I was reading the book of Matthew and I’ve read this book multiple times, but this time the Holy Spirit begin to magnify certain scriptures in bold in the passage below.
Matthew 3:5-11 King James Version
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Here is John the Baptist, baptizing people and while he was doing that, the Pharisees and Sadducees walked up. He told them to bring forth fruit meet for repentance. I begin to talk to God, and I told the Holy Spirit to elaborate. He said repentance has a fruit. That means you should be able to SEE it in people’s lives. The change or whatever it is they are repenting of should be evident!!!
An example, growing up I struggled with lying. I mean I’ll lie about the craziest things. When I got saved, I didn’t have to tell everyone I wasn’t a liar anymore, I just began to tell the truth. Whenever I got the opportunity, I told the truth, no matter how small or big. People at my jobs knew not to do anything around me because I was going to be honest. So, the fruit in my life proved itself. So, whatever you repent of should be evident!! Is repentance evident in your life?
I went to Google because I love reading commentaries and it stated that if you submit to God and are really sincere in your heart, your life will prove it! It will bear fruit!! Your life will speak for itself!! Is your life bearing fruit? Is your marriage, children, businesses, ministries, friendships, or jobs bearing fruit?
The next scripture that stood out was any tree, (YOU), the tree symbolizes men in the Word. Any tree that doesn’t bear good fruit should be brought down!! So, I want you to pray this prayer point because we don’t want to be hewn(cut) down, but we do want the bad fruit in us to be cut at its root and uprooted out of our lives/souls!! You read that God used an ax and it hit the tree at its root! Sometimes in our lives, we deal with fruit and not the roots! This month let’s hit the roots!!
Prayer: Father God I come to you right now confessing all my sins. Father, if there is any area in my life I have not truly repented, please highlight those areas to me and help me to truly repent. Father, I know even with repentance I need you. Your Word says no one can come to the Father apart from the Son. So, I acknowledge I can do nothing without your Son.
Father your Word also says any tree that is not bringing forth good fruit should be cut down. Therefore, if there is any bad fruit in me or my life, or those connected to me. Father uproot and pluck up those people, places, or things out of my life by FIRE!! Father lay your ax at the root and then plant good fruit in me Father and around me. Father, I ask to be filled with your Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues and the fruits of the spirits working in my life.
Lord, I thank you for answering this prayer because your Word says to ask and we should receive. I now seal this prayer with the blood of Jesus.
